2013 is looking like an exciting season ahead. We would like to welcome Elf Lubricants NZ on board team Incon. We are very excite to be working with Elf to get the best out of our engine and drawing on their vast racing knowledge being the world leaders in race oils! The winter has also given birth to our latest tool our custom built Tohatsu M50D2 Dyno. We have been thinking going down this road for a while but it is now ready to go to get the best out of our Elf Tohatsu. Here is a sneak peak of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KI-QHe-Wo2A&feature=plcp. With Three new virgin props from Solas on the wall we now have a full Solas quiver of propellers and a lot of testing hours ahead to get the newbies up to our high standard that Moss Smith has demanded out of our propellers. These inclusions has given use back up propellers for our top three sizes and two new development props that are way out of the norm size range. I am looking forward to racing starting again in August on Lake Taupo for the first round of the National long Haul series.
Our National Championship slipped out of our firm grasp in the final race of the season being the 90 Mile Beach king of the cape. From the start we had trouble with the engine not starting the spinning a bush in the propeller putting us a good ten minutes behind the field from the start. Our problems only got worse with a total gear box failure 5km from the top causing the whole prop housing, propeller and shaft to exit out the rear of the boat at 80kph! There was the end our National championship but also the end to a great season of racing with some great mates.
Position 1st
We have been out doing some mid-winter cold water testing over the past few weeks. We have been doing a range of in-house prop work that is progressing along well. Our new hull will be arriving in the next month and we can't wait to get the new hull in the river to complete testing. Bring on "Winter thunder" in Taupo on the 6th August.
Position 6th
We organised this day to have some fun with Co-Pilot Steve Appleby sharing the driving with myself. We had a mixed day and showed some potential having a heat win and placing a solid 2nd in the final behind Smuggler (National Leader). We have found some good speed in the boat and without a couple of mechanical mishaps would have been a successful day. Our final placing 6th!
Position 4th
Pauanui saw our second heat win of the season. Today was a really flat surf day so the only exciting event seen all day was some broken ribs and an anchor to the leg. We ended up 4th with Carson Construction winning the day.
